N.Y. STATE SENATORS PRO GUN RATINGS

I made this from past grades given by NYSRPA.org, SCOPENY.org, and NY Senate website. I wanted to concentrate my efforts on pro-2A members to encourage them to hold strong and true to the 2nd Amendment.

I think it is important to rally behind the pro-2A members rather than waste time trying to convince the antis to change their mind. The antis know they are violating the Constitution and just don’t care, so no sense in wasting time with them.

Letter To Senator Tom Coburn Asking him to Protect 2nd Amendment

Good day Sir,

First, thank you for your time.

My name is Tom Maerling and I am writing to ask you to please see to it that our 2nd Amendment is not allowed to be circumvented or ignored when congress resumes.

I am truly amazed that any Senator could or would mention confiscation of firearms from the American people. The talk of banning over 120 firearms is no less extraordinary and disgusting.

For the first time in my life I feel like I am lying to my 3 boys when I tell them we live in the greatest country on Earth. It seems to me that we are governed by tyrants. The total lack of respect, and even the overwhelming lack of will to acknowledge our Constitution even exists when making governing proposals, is absolutely surreal.

Please tell me you believe the American people are governed by the United States Constitution and that you know for a fact that our congress-people are restrained from making governing laws which violate our Constitution.

Please tell me also that you will put your job on the line to defend the Constitution from the tyrants in congress that you work side by side with.

And let me ask you to stop being polite and or civil to those representatives of the American people that would even suggest a gun grab in the United States of America. I know it is supposed to be ‘uncivil’ to call your fellow Senators names, but when in fact that name is true and accurate, it is not uncivil. When being civil, for the sake of being civil, creates a greater danger to the citizenry than it does a courtesy to the recipient then it is time to put truth and accuracy above civility.

Civility that allows for the bolder talk of tyranny to spew from a tyrant’s mouth and an increased abuse of office may be civil between you and your colleague, but it is uncivil to the American citizenry. I believe it is your duty to call these people out for what they are.

It is time to put the shame back on the people that want to defile our Constitution and celebrate those that wish to defend it. To be clear Sir, when a United States Senator speaks of confiscating or mandating buy-backs of the American citizenry’s firearms then that U.S. Senator is defiling the U.S. Constitution.  Any Senator of the United States of America that would defile the Constitution in order to strip the American citizenry of their right to keep and bear arms ‘without infringement’ is indeed a tyrant.

If our founding fathers were with you today Sir, I am certain they would tell you that a U.S. Senator speaking about confiscation or mandated buy-backs of the American citizenry’s firearms is exactly why the American citizenry needs not only semi-automatic weapons but fully automatic weapons.

The only deal you should cut with these tyrants when it comes to our 2nd Amendment is this: If they get the votes to amend the Constitution then you will abide by the new amendment when proposing new legislation, but until then, you expect them to abide by the current Constitution and not bring any legislation forward that infringes on the right of the people to keep and bear arms.

In the end I hope this is just a ploy by President Obama to stimulate the economy via a run on guns. If it is, give him congratulations from me. If it isn’t, I hope you can do something to convince me I am not lying to my children.

Wall of Suppression: How a Politician Builds a Constituency

Act I: The Innocent Quest

You have fallen on hard times and are forced to seek help. But, when a politician claims to want to help you – you need to be careful and deduce whether that help will actually solve your problem, prolong it, or progressively worsen it.

If a politician was actually helping you solve your problem you would be able to thank them, be on your way, and not have to return each month for more help.

When you need help paying a bill they do not hand you a solution and set you out on a path toward opportunity by which you are then able to resolve this problem.

Instead they hand you a check and tell you “don’t worry about your problem, just return next month and we’ll give you another”.

In reality, however, your problem is no more solved than the drunk that tries drinking his problems away. He feels good for the moment, but when he sobers the problem is still there and, more often than not, it has increased in size.

Well it works the same way with those checks; whereby each drink makes the drunk feel better, each check makes the recipient feel better. However, neither fix lasts.

Act II: Building the Wall

Now let’s look at each of these checks as being equivalent to a brick. And you cashing that check is the equivalent of a brick layer laying another brick in a wall. With each check you cash your wall becomes higher.

Unlike the brick layer, who is building a wall of a new home, you are building a wall of suppression. This suppression is more of an unconscious voluntary suppression as opposed to one forced upon you by another. However, it certainly is welcomed and abetted by the politician providing this so called “help.”

It begins modest enough; those checks really seem to have solved the problem. But with each check cashed the wall of suppression is growing higher.

As the wall gets higher it becomes more difficult to see over it, then it becomes harder to hear beyond it. Once your vision and hearing are lost you can no longer keep track of what is happening on the other side.

What do you do now?

Act III: The Wall Completed

You now turn to that same politician to keep you informed as to what is happening on the outside of the wall. You have become the politicians dream constituent. They are now your source for income inside the wall and for information outside of the wall.

If you should ask the pol. “how did this wall get here” they will reply that neither you nor they are to blame; “it is somebody else’s fault.” If you ask them how you get out or how you can knock it down, they will tell you “there is nothing you can do, just stay there; we’ll take care of it.”

Why would politicians do this? It is their survival tool; their means for staying employed.

How does your problem keep them employed?

They do not want to solve your problem, they want to prolong it. Prolong it, and feed it. It is feeding your dependency on them that keeps them busy, not ridding you of your problem. The never ending cycle which keeps you dependent on them is the cycle that gives them a reason to exist, a reason for their job to exist.
